IRIMBILIYAM, September 10, 2026: Ideal International School, Irimbiliyam, conducted an engaging Mini Fruit Market STEAM Project for the students of Grade I, providing them with a meaningful multidisciplinary learning experience through the theme of fruits and vegetables.The project integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through hands-on activities. Students observed seed germination, explored the tastes and parts of fruits, created fruit advertisements using tablets, constructed mini market stalls with reusable materials, made fruit models and market signs, and practised counting, pricing, addition, subtraction and weighing using play money and balance scales.
The activity also followed a role-based learning approach, with students participating as Growers, Builders, Artists, Mathematicians, Sellers and Buyers. This helped develop their communication, creativity, teamwork, observation and problem-solving skills while connecting classroom concepts with everyday life.
Appreciating the initiative, Mrs Linitha Sherin, Counsellor, said, “When children learn through real-life experiences, they understand concepts more naturally and confidently. This project has beautifully brought different subjects together while allowing every child to participate, explore and learn with joy.”
Mrs Faheema and Mrs Hisana, Class Teachers of Grade I Apex, were the Convenors of the project. Mrs Sinija, In-charge of Grade I, and Mrs Linitha Sherin, Counsellor, were present and appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers.
The Mini Fruit Market showcased the value of integrated, experiential learning, making education more purposeful, enjoyable and connected to real-life situations.
