IRIMBILIYAM, September 26, 2026: Ideal International School, Irimbiliyam, conducted Session 5 of The Ideal Parent – Parents Academy on Saturday, focusing on “Parenting with Purpose – Building Tomorrow Together.” The session was led by Mr Nishad Pattayil, Motivational Speaker and International Trainer, at the Block A Seminar Hall.
The session explored the changing landscape of parenting and the importance of meaningful communication, mindful parenting and growing together with children. Mr Nishad emphasised that parents need to stay updated with the changing needs of today’s children and adapt their parenting approaches accordingly.
Highlighting the importance of nurturing, he shared a thought-provoking analogy: “Parenting is like a garden, not farming.” Children, he explained, need patience, care, attention and a nurturing environment to grow naturally. Parents were encouraged to enjoy parenting rather than view it as a burden.
The session also focused on being a positive role model, teaching values through practice rather than words alone, giving children quality time, appreciating them for who they are, and supporting their emotional and spiritual well-being.
Mr Nishad stressed the importance of personal safety, boundaries and open communication, encouraging parents to create an environment where children feel safe to share their concerns. He also highlighted three dimensions of values—preaching, practising and believing—reminding parents that children learn most powerfully by observing what adults do.
Effective Parenting: A Simple Reminder
Model, don’t manipulate.
Listen, don’t lecture.
Communicate, don’t constantly correct.
The session concluded with a meaningful reminder that being a good parent is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children—through presence, acceptance, encouragement, values and genuine connection.
