From Instruction to Interaction
As part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, Ideal International School, Irimbiliyam, organised a special Faculty Development Programme titled “Instruct to Construct – The Power of Two-Way Communications.”
The session was led by Mr Sayed Haris, Master Trainer, Oxford University Press, an educationist, English language trainer and soft-skills facilitator.
The session focused on transforming classroom communication from a one-way transmission of instructions into meaningful two-way interaction. Through practical examples and engaging activities, teachers explored how purposeful questioning can encourage students to think, reflect, participate and construct their own understanding.
Mr Sayed Haris emphasised that effective classroom communication is not simply about giving clear instructions. It is about creating space for questions, curiosity, exploration and independent thinking.
Real classroom scenarios and thought-provoking questions encouraged teachers to reflect on their existing practices and identify ways to make classroom interactions more inclusive, interactive and constructive.
